Rev. Chester O. Burgert, the new minister of the Evangelical church, arrived this week and has taken up his work. He is occupying the home recently bought by the church, on the hill, the first house north of the Presbyterian church. Marion welcomes Rev. Burgert.

Work on the paving east from the Tilson corner is progressing nicely.

Miss Mildred Williams and Miss Edith Greer gave a miscellaneous shower at the home of the latter on Thursday afternoon for Miss Florence Brigham who on Wednesday was married to Mr. Fred Hayen.

Miss Sadie Keller and her Sunday School class of girls are picnicking at Ehrlich’s Mill this afternoon.

Two steeple Jacks, Owens, the original “Fly” and “Nemo,” the jail breaker last week painted the flag pole on the court house lawn.

The Little River Boosters were through here Thursday putting up signs and offerings of free camping grounds to travelers passing through their town.

Jacob Batt has taken over the Hudson agency, which was formerly held by Curtis & Propp.

Miss Lavina Schlotz and Mr. Earl Linn were married June 9 at 2 o’clock at Newton, Rev. Henshaw officiating. Mrs. Linn, who is a daughter of Mrs. L. F. Schlotz, was a member of the class of ’20 M.H.S. Mr. Linn, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Linn, saw service overseas with the 35th Division.

The county will build a new bridge at the Burgess place three miles south of town, soon.
