A big rain fell here and over most of the county Tuesday night, the first real rain for a year or more. Several rains of an inch fell in March but none to compare with the 4.20-inch rain of Tuesday night. It delayed the small-grain harvest a little but was a great benefit to other growing crops.
Jacob Hanson, carpenter and contractor, has opened a shop in the room in the rear of the Hanstine hardware store. He has long experience in his trade, having lived and worked at his business for a number of years in El Dorado and Hutchinson.

Officers while hunting two men at Florence last Sunday who were suspected of being murderers of a policeman at Wichita ran into a game of craps in the woods along Doyle. Some genuine comedy was enacted when George Powell and Undersheriff Hannaman took after one large fellow, chasing him three miles but never getting close enough to catch him.
