Though thoughts of war made this Christmas something of a solemn one, the day was observed, as it should be, in the homes of the community with homecomings and gatherings of intimate friends.

Finder of an auto crank will please leave it at this office. It was lost on Christmas about a mile west of Frank Schill’s place on Sunset Rd.

Thirteen students from Marion County are attending the State Normal: Helen Williams and Sam Frazer of Marion; Merle Smith, Esther Williams, and Glenn Robinson of Florence; Grace McNicol, Lula Jarvis, and Joe McIntosh of Lost Springs; Verna Kobel of Peabody; Lydia Gutsch and Mary Ann Schultz of Hillsboro; and Harry Brandt of Ramona.

W.A. Stauffer left for New York on Monday of this week and is expected to sail on Wednesday for France, where he will be engaged in war Y.M.C.A. work.

Ed Ginavan was a patient in the hospital from Monday to Wednesday. He was riding horseback, the horse ran with him, and he was caught in the branches of a tree and thrown off. The branches struck him in the neck, causing his throat to swell until it almost smothered him.
