Part of a Marion High School band and choir concert from Monday will be featured on KXKU.106 on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Music teacher David Clark said the radio station will play about a 20-minute block of music from Marion on those days.

Amy Kames is pictured on the front page as she stands next to one of her paintings on display at Gallery 101 in Marion. The images are uniquely Kansas and most of them are wrapped up “growing up in Marion County.” Although she lives in Pensacola, Florida, Kames is from Marion. She is the daughter of Charles and Annora Goering and is a graduate of Marion High School.

Also shown on the front page is Emily Hake, winner of the Marion County Record’s Christmas coloring contest. She holds the three-foot long, 11-pound Christmas stocking filled with more than $50 in goodies. She won the contest by neatly completing all 12 illustrations.

Dear Santa, For Christmas this year we are asking for a few things, do you think you can deliver?

My brother, Ryder, would like some green tractors and a truck. My sister, Dylan, would like some pink cupcakes for her kitchen and a new winter dress; I would like a jewelry box and a few Squinkies.

I will ask Mom to leave out some milk and cookies for you and a few carrots for your reindeer. See you soon! Love, Taryn, Dylan, and Ryder Kraus.

Marion High School choir members Caroline Collett, first alto, and Michael Beeler, second tenor, were selected Nov. 5 to the Kansas Music Educators Association 2012 All State Choir. Each student sang three selected pieces for a panel of three judges. The choir will perform at the association’s convention Feb. 23 to 25 in Wichita.
