The local Grand Army of the Republic post was chartered in 1882 and was the 42nd post chartered in Kansas. There are now 498 posts in the state.

Wm. Pollock, for whom the Post was named, enlisted Aug. 2, 1861, at Petersburg, Illinois, and entered active service as a corporal of Company F, 28th Illinois Volunteer Infantry.

He was killed in battle July 12, 1863, at Jackson, Mississippi.

Mrs. J.S. Brooks entertained five little girls Tuesday afternoon at a party for her little daughter, Ruby. Guests were Marie Keazer, Mildred McIntosh, Marian Quisenberry, Harriet Smith, and Louise Williamson.

The juniors gave a royal reception and banquet to the faculty and members of the senior class Tuesday evening.
