MORE

june 11, 1880

We understand that the new Peabody paper will make its appearance next week. H.D. Morgan will boss the concern.

Billy Bates will dig a well of his own for his own use and the accommodation of the public, on his corner, Main and Third.

It is with more than ordinary gratification that we announce the nomination of Hon. James A. Garfield, of Ohio, for President.

To-day the Ladies Aid Society will lay aside their cares and darning needles, and hie themselves to the river banks, there to catch fish and colds.

Work is briskly progressing on the sugar and sorghum factory. It will soon be enclosed and will present an imposing appearance. The machinery will arrive shortly, and everything will be ready for business long before the growing cane is ready for grinding. The establishment will be a big thing for Marion Centre.

In behalf of the citizens of Marion Centre, especially those interested in the proceedings of the Chicago convention, we tender thanks to G.F. Roberts, our accommodating station agent and telegraph operator, for his enterprise and kindness in keeping the Post Office bulletin board supplied with the latest dispatches.
