Marion City Council approved a lease Monday with Auto House of Galva for the city’s speculative building at the industrial park.

Classes holding reunions Old Settlers Day and having the attendees pictured in this issue include the Marion High School class of 1948, 60th anniversary; 1958, 50th; and 1968, 40th.

Eleven teams from eight towns participated Saturday in the second annual Chili Cook-off at Marion County Park and Lake. Winners were Barbara McCurdy and Marci Davis of Goddard.

Pupils at Marion Elementary School named as October students of the month are Tori Allen, Megan Bailey, Hailey Carter, Matthew Christensen, Jimi Dornbush, Breanna Doyle, Melanie Garrett, Reann Hamm, Drew Helmer, Kristen Herzet, Molly Hess, Raleigh Kroupa, Emma Neal, Samantha Richmond, Tori Shults, and Macy Sigel.

A feature story tells about the Sherbert family and Sher-Bowl Family Fun Center and Sports Bar at 131 S. Thorp St., Marion. The popular bowling alley now has a new video arcade, sports bar, and grill.
