Celebrate the beginning of a new year at the Marion’s 2009 ball drop New Years Eve. Gather at Marion City Library at 11:45 p.m. to watch the drop and enjoy an annual fireworks display.

Marion City Council approved an incentive package Monday evening to Spur Ridge Veterinarian Clinic to relocate from Florence to Batt Industrial Park in Marion. The clinic is owned by Brandon Kraus and has been in Florence for several years.

Marion Elementary School recently honored 16 students of the month who most exemplified being responsible, respectful, and doing their best. Honored were Cade Alleven, Garrett Alleven, Kennedy Fahey, Monica Harrison, Devin Hamm, Eli Hett, Shayla Kline, Brandon Lange, Justin Leis, Laura Savage, Preston Schneider, Lindsey Sigel, Tori Smith, Colleen Steele, Kalie Waner, and Larry Ziammermann.

Brothers Jared and Jason Hett of Marion are playing on the same basketball team for the first time since the 2003-’04 season. Jason, a freshman, joined his senior brother on the Tabor College basketball team this year. Gary and Jo Hett of Marion are the brothers’ parents.
