Fern Friesen, Marion High School secretary is retiring this year after 24 years of dedicated service to the school system. Friesen sat at her desk through six presidents, seven principals, and six superintendents. She now is ready to retire.

John Brose will host an “after hours” gathering Friday for members of Marion’s Chamber of Commerce. The reception starts at 5 p.m. at the Brose home, 428 North Cedar.

The girls are identified as Meredith Moore, Melissa Moffitt, Tiffany Tajchman, Heather Tajchman, Sara Zogelman, Randi Barnett, and Amanda Fruechting.

Ten area people have received Emergency Medical Technician certification. Of these, five will volunteer for Marion County Emergency Medical Service.

The 10 include Michele Lundy of Marion/Tampa; Cayle Goertzen, Stan Neufeld, and Amanda Spencer, Hillsboro; Judith Creamer and Scott Zogelman, Florence; and Rachel Alt, G.P. Floyd, and Scott Melcher, Herington.
