This week’s Personality Profile deals with Ern Hett, a Marion County farmer and rancher in the Aulne community, who has turned his hobby into a full-fledged profitable business known as The Copper Shed.

Located five miles south and one and one-half west of Marion, two buildings house his collection of artwork and antiques created and collected by Ern and his daughter, Julie Nelson.

A new state law makes it illegal for minors to possess tobacco products. Anyone younger than 18 found with tobacco products could be fined. The law goes into effect July 1.

Pictured on the front page are St. Luke Hospital lab technicians Rose Jordan, Brenda Rhodes, Cami Hanson, Stuart Meador, and Terri Bishop. Though small, the lab prides itself on fast, accurate results for the medical staff of the hospital.

Frances Turner of Marion, master certified graphoanalyst, is president of the Kansas chapter of the International “Graphoanalysis Society and presided at a seminar on scientific handwriting analysis held Friday and Saturday at Marion Senior Center. Those attending were from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska.

Thanes Schwartz, formerly of Marion now residing in Tampa Florida, will be seen on “The Nanny” television show airing May 13.Thane was selected from auditions held in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa to perform as an extra on “The Nanny.” The show was filmed aboard the Celebrity Cruise Lines.

“All Signs Point to Fun at the Fair” was selected as the theme for the 1996 Marion County Fair. Milford and Janell Klaassen submitted the winning entry.
