Six-year-old Rebecca Richmond placed fourth in the national pedal pull championship Saturday in Omaha. Rebecca, daughter of Randy and Ramona Richmond of Marion, was one of more than 400 competing in a number of age groups.

A bronze plaque in remembrance to the first three pioneer families who settled in Marion on the site of present-day Central Park was unveiled at Old Settlers Day by officers of Marion Historical Museum.

Principal Jim Giesbrecht of Marion High School has announced that LeAnn Hiebert has been named a commended scholar in the 1994 National Merit Scholarship program.

Pictured are Sister Clarita, Sister Marcelina, and Sister Scholastica, who formerly served on the staff of St. Luke Hospital when it was operated by Adorers of the Blood of Christ.
