A man who bid $30 for a cherry pie auctioned during an afternoon Old Settlers Day program in Central Park has been identified as Warren Hayen, Marion High School Class of 1948.

An October display at Butler County Community College in Marion features hand-woven chairs by L. Dena Goertz, miniature pot-bellied stoves collected by Helen Reznicek, and taxidermist mountings by Autumn Ross.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of September were Alexander Michael Birchmeier, born Sept. 11, and Paul Anthony Gutsch, born Sept. 21.

Reports in this issue of Marion High School classes having special anniversaries on Old Settlers Day included the classes of 1933 (60th), 1943 (50th), and 1948 (45th).

Katrina Swan, bride-elect of Justin Griffin, was honored Sept. 18 at a miscellaneous shower at Holy Family Activity Center. Hostesses were Susan Cooper, Faye Makovec, Janet Herzet, Theresa Linton, Shirley Steppe, and Kay Heidebrecht.
