Announcement was made this week that Owl Car Café in downtown Marion will no longer be open for business after Friday. David and Tena Waner, who have operated the business for the past 18 months, said business had been good, but they faced an extreme shortage of qualified help.

Bud Hannaford and Bud Pierce of the Marion Cemetery Board brought to the city commission Monday an offer from the heirs of the Henry Metzler estate to sell 10 acres of an 18-acre tract for cemetery expansion. Commissioners said they would move forward with acquiring the property.

Nick and Norma Nickelson will be hosts for a grand opening Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to acquaint the public with Nick’s Building Center, their newly acquired and remodeled lumberyard in Marion.

Rochelle Mueller, daughter of Earl and Eloise Mueller of Marion, has been named gaming audit manager at a new Harrah’s facility scheduled to open in February 1994 in New Orleans.

Marion County Implement Inc. is expanding office, customer lounge, and display space at the John Deere agency on N. Cedar St. in Marion. The project will be completed by the first of the year.
