Again this year the city of Marion will offer a $10 rebate on electric bills for customers who have outdoor displays of holiday lights.

More than 430 boys and girls attended Harvest of Hope lock-in at Marion High School gym. Youths from throughout Marion and surrounding counties attended. About 70 adult volunteers helped during the lock-in.

Marion Ogden is the month’s Marion High School teacher of the month. He has been teaching and coaching in Marion for 20 years.

About 500 invitations have gone out to area ranchers and farmers for the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce Farm/City Appreciation Night.

Marion High School senior LeAnn Hiebert has been selected as student of the month by the faculty. Her parents are Mary Alice and Roger Hiebert of rural Marion. After graduation, LeAnn plans to attend Emporia State University or the University of Kansas.

A turkey leg contest during Saturday’s Turkey Daze by the Chamber of Commerce was won by Bill Higgins. Other participants were Greg Carlson, Casey Case, Jim Chamberland, Craig Hanson, Gerry Harris, Roger Hudlin, and Matt Newhouse.
