During the past 40 years, Jackson’s has run full circle from a man’s store to a department store including ladies’ clothing. Now it is a man’s world again. “We made the change to better serve our customers in Marion and the surrounding area by offering a complete line of clothing for men,” George Jackson’s wife Jeannette Jackson explained.
Marion will officially display the first festive signs of the Christmas holiday on Sunday, the day of the grand opening of retail stores for the holiday season.
Home Box Office will be free to Marion cable television subscribers on Thanksgiving Day. Programs will broadcast that day over channel 5, in place of the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Monette Avery, subject of this week’s “Personality Profile” began his career as a master printer at this newspaper when, as a freshman at Marion High School, he became our “printer’s devil.”
The Marion High School Warrior basketball team has six lettermen returning to lead the squad, which has been picked to win the CVL title. The lettermen are sophomore Greg Boyle and five seniors Jay Smith, Jeff Richmond, Doug Heerey, Jerry Hett, and Darin Helmer.
