Traffic along US-56 about three miles west of Marion will be detoured for the rest of the summer while a new bridge is being constructed over the South Cottonwood River, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

St. Luke Hospital has passed the first step in winning state approval for a proposed physician’s clinic to be built near the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Woody Steinert of Tampa attended the Lawrence Welk show at the Coliseum in Wichita Thursday evening. The Steinerts had dinner at the Hickory House and were excited to get autographs from Lawrence Welk, Guy Hovis, Tom Netherton, and Myron Floren, who also were dining there.

Three couples announcing planned celebrations of their golden wedding anniversaries July 6 are Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Razor of Marion, Mr. and John Bielefeld of Lost Springs, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schlehuber of Park City.

William Helmer, Jo Ann Ottensmeier, and Rosalie Schmidtberger of Marion and Orlin Fleming of Peabody will be honored Thursday at the annual Greeley Gas Co. annual employee service awards dinner at the Herington Recreation building.
