Marion County Commissioners agreed to contract terms with the three firms hired to renovate the county jail. Work on the $330,000 project began last week. The building will be completed by the end of July 1981.

Marion football Warriors were in for a long night Friday as they faced top three rated Chase County in Cottonwood Falls. The Warriors spent most of the evening chasing Jay Redick who led his team to a 46-0 win over Marion.

Pat Nuss, owner of The Sassy Shop in Marion, presented a program to a group last Thursday at the First National Bank in Hillsboro.. Eileen Unruh, Hillsboro, assisted by modeling the basic wardrobe while Nuss pointed out how to add to it.

The advisory board of the Marion County Extension Council is sponsoring an educational tour Oct. 21 and 22 to Pioneer Village at Minden, Nebraska.

More than 10,000 people gathered on both sides of Marion’s Main Street Saturday to watch another in a long series of outstanding parades -- and to visit with friends while waiting for the 45-minute parade with the theme, “The ’80s — a Decade of Opportunity.”

Lucille Britain took top honors for being in the parade three times, each time in a different costume. She came through as a candidate on the Democrat float, then as the snare drum player in the Rube Band, and finally as an emergency medical technician on the Marion –based ambulance.
