The City of Marion this week voted to invest $20,000 in idle funds with First Federal Savings, Marion branch. The funds will be put in a one-year certificate of deposit bearing 6.72% interest.

Framework has been constructed for a new hangar at Marion Municipal Airport. The building, when completed, will provide public rental space for three planes.

Congressman Dan Glickman answered questions from an attentive crowd of more than 100 during a two-hour town meeting session Thursday night in the district courtroom at Marion.

Keith Collett left Sunday evening for Exeter, England, where he will attend a baroque music seminar. He will return to the states in August.

Jon Thole was elected president of the Marion-Florence board of education Monday evening. Reuben Zerger was elected vice president.

The Rev. and Mrs. Elton Kirstein, Stafford, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jeannie, to Ed Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hett, Marion. A December wedding is planned.
