Area farmers will have another choice about where they will store grain harvested this fall. Dwayne Classen of rural Hillsboro is completely rebuilding the old Canada grain elevator.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond and their daughter, Rhonda, have purchased Conyers Flowers. They will have a grand opening and open house soon. It will be combined with a Christmas display.

Although it was a struggle, 8-year-old Denise Sellers and her 5-year-old sister, Julie, managed grins as they held a 15¼-pound cantaloupe. The enormous melon was grown in the Robert Sellers family garden southwest of Florence.

Ruth Meyer features Frank Vlk and his wife, the former Elizabeth Stika, in this week’s Personality Profile. Frank’s trademark is a small pipe fitted with a soft drink bottle cap.
