Marion Chamber of Commerce members heard little-known facts of Marion County history Friday noon when Phyllis Melton, well-versed county and city historian, gave a short but informative program after a dinner and business meeting.

The subject of this week’s “Personality Profile” feature is Ted Cash, former owner of the Ted Cash sign business at Wichita, now retired and living at Marion County Park and Lake.

Centre High School seniors David Mueller and Gayla Gutsch were chosen king and queen for Cougar homecoming festivities Friday. They were crowned in halftime ceremonies at the Centre-Chase County football game, which Centre won, 32-0.

Herman Meyer of Lincolnville is pictured with a four-pound radish that came from his garden southeast of Lincolnville. The big vegetable measures five inches in diameter.

George and Charlene Svitak, the Pilsen Polka Pals, were honored Saturday when they were asked to entertain guests who were awaiting the arrival of President Jimmy Carter at Century II in Wichita. They entertained the group with many stirring Czech selections.
