Soldiers from the Army National Guard bridge platoon stationed at the Council Grove Armory removed the old Creamery Bridge across Luta Creek the past weekend. David Ruhl waded into Luta Creek to retrieve an iron sign that marked the 92-year-old bridge. The sign will be placed in the Marion County Historical Museum.

Marion High School business students taught by Helen Reznicek won many awards Thursday at Bethel College. Among the students honored were Peggy Owens, Gena Helmer, Linda Schaffer, Robin Brooks, Brenda Friesen, Karen Hayes, Tammy Sandwell, Becky Vinduska, Donna Casey, Annette Nienstedt, Rick Richmond, and Barry Allen.

This week’s Personality Profile by Ruth Meyer features Roger Hiebert, a young auctioneer who does some farming and has a herd of 40 stock cows.

Casey Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case and a senior at Marion High School, has signed a letter of intent to play football at Cowley County Community College.
