Pictured on page one is the “fabled big spring” in Marion’s Central Park showing how the hewn stone wall and spring entrance is being unearthed by workers. The spring waters have welled up to the surface and have started to flow again after many years of being covered under several feet of earth.
Lowell Ensey has been hired to be Marion’s summer youth program director.
Workmen are rushing this week to complete the fine new multi-use building being constructed by the Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association at the east edge of the city. The building will get its first use in May for the livestock Spring Show.
Barbara Christensen, a senior at Marion High School, has been named recipient of the Balfour Award for 1964-65. The award is presented annually to the senior who most exemplifies academic excellence and leadership qualities.
Seaman Earl W. Winter, USN, is serving aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Claude V. Ricketts, operating with the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. The ship is manned by sailors from West Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the United States, all members of NATO.
