Major construction on a wide variety of projects in Marion continues to highlight the year-end economic picture here. Homes, business houses, streets, schools, and industry alike share in the building activity that is bringing renewed optimism and new life in general in its wake.

Four Marion County girls from four separate 4-H clubs are entered in this year’s county cherry pie baking contests. The four girls are Karen Jost, Diana Goertz, Mary Theresa Konarik, and Caroline Goertz. The contest will be held Dec. 3 at Hillsboro.

Nine Marion Warrior “Horsemen,” senior members of this year’s football squad, will be missed when the team goes out for practice next fall. They are John Russell, Jerry Schwemmer, Jerry Loveless, Jerry Domke, Tuck Tucker, Gerald Kelsey, Ron Oelschlager, Gary Loveless, and John Christensen.

Former Marion photographer Leslie Broadstreet was featured this week on a morning show on KAKE-TV. Broadstreet was interviewed on the Ethel Jane program and showed many of his prize-winning portraits.
