One of the most striking of the many beautiful peony gardens in Marion County this spring is that of Mrs. W.F. Vinduska, one mile northwest of Pilsen. Pictured on the front page is Mrs. Vinduska with many of her more than 300 choice peony bushes in full bloom in a variety of colors.

A party honoring Dannie Gooding’s 4th birthday was held last Tuesday morning. Present were Doug and Anita Druse, Susan Reznicek, Greg Carlson, David Rittgers, Terry Smith, Gary Boyle, Marianne Elling, Roger Johnson, Mrs. Bob Smith, Mrs. Don Rittgers, Mrs. Bob Druse, and David Gooding.

Student council elections were held May 10 at Marion High School. Lowell Ensey was elected president of next year’s council. Ron Kelsey was elected vice president.

Lois Raleigh of Marion received $50 in this week’s Cash Days drawing. Viola Davis, Marion, missed $5; Gary D. Helmer, Marion, and Mavis Mullen, Marion, each missed $25; and Pete Rempel, Marion, received $5.

The Butler County News carried a story this week that the Rev. Leon Hayen has been elected president of the El Dorado Ministerial Alliance for 1962-’63. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hayen of Marion.
