Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Schroer announce the sale this week of their Western Auto Store to Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Lunderman of Wichita. The new owners took over operation as of today.
Charles Kjellin, prominent Marion farmer and a member of the board of education here, almost miraculously escaped death or permanent injury early last Friday afternoon when he was struck by a bolt of lightning while operating a hay rake in a field near his home.
A farewell party Wednesday evening at Marion County Lake honored Garry Vogel, who is leaving July 4 for the service. Those present included Jon Thole, Bill Winkley, Don Stenzel, Steven Krispense, Steven Greenemeyer, Harold Socolofsky, Beth Thole, Anita Schick, Diana Henderson, Ilene Fisher, Anita Schlehuber, and Ezra Schimpf, Jon and Gene.
D.W. Wheeler and Michael Brodhead flew Tuesday morning from Wichita to Mexico City. They expect to be gone 10 days.
The 1958 Thespians of Marion High School had their first reunion June 24 at Marion County Lake hall. The next reunion will be during the Christmas holidays in 1966.
Charles Richard Schlehuber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlehuber, flew by jet last Wednesday from Kansas City to San Francisco and from there to Okinawa, where he will be stationed.
The annual 4-H businessmen’s picnic will be July 24 at the Marion park.
