The Jolly Old Gent from North Pole Land will be in Marion at 3 p.m. Saturday aboard one of the city fire trucks. He will go directly to the City Building, where he will pass out sacks of treats for all children present.

Dick Bredemeier, Marion service station operator, was elected president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce for 1963 at the group’s regular December meeting. Dwight Adams was elected vice president, and Homer Stenzel was reappointed treasurer.

Stores in Marion will be open three nights this week, according to information from the Chamber of Commerce. This will give the people who work a chance to do last-minute Christmas shopping.

Doctors and their wives were guests of the sisters at St. Luke Hospital Dec. 18 for a Christmas dinner. They were entertained by the Praxettes, a singing group from Sacred Heart College, Wichita.

“A Christmas Carol,” an adaption of the classic favorite by Charles Dickens, is to be presented by grades five and six tonight at 8 p.m. at the city building.

That annual New Year’s Day coyote hunt in the Youngtown neighborhood is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Jan. 1. Hunters will meet at the Youngtown school corner. Girls and boys of Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and their mothers will serve a noon meal at the Walter Hayen machine shed west of the Youngtown corner.
