Two basketball players from Marion County have been selected by the Wichita Eagle to their mythical all-state teams. Mike Schwemmer of the Marion Warriors was selected to the Eagle second team. Dick Myers, Peabody center, was selected to the first team.

The Dairy Queen in Marion will open Friday, March 15, according to Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Schimpf, owners and operators. This marks the 11th season of operation of the Dairy Queen by the Schimpfs. They purchased the business from Ezra Bernhardt.

Den 3 of Marion Cub Scouts visited the Marion County Record on Wednesday of this week and took a tour of the printing plant. The boys present were Brad Case, Dennis Helmer, Kendall Helmer, Doug Marler, Mark Rathert, Mike Schwendiman, Ricky Schwendiman, and Steven Widler.

Two people were honored by Marion Safety Commission this week for their safe driving during the month of February. Homer Stiller won the adult award, and JoAnn Stroda won the award for teenagers. Each will receive a certificate and gasoline for their car.

The 44th birthday of the American Legion post in Marion will be celebrated Saturday with a banquet and dance. A social hour at 6 p.m. and a banquet at 7 p.m. will be followed by a dance to the music of Al Jennings.
