Federated clubs of Marion honored teachers in the Marion school system this week by giving them individual flowers in observance of American Education Week.
Three Marion Girl Scouts, all named Jan, got a special treat Saturday at Emporia. They climbed up to the cab door of a big Santa Fe diesel engine to meet the engineer before their special Girl Scout streamliner left on a day’s round trip to Abilene. The three are Jan VanBuren, Janice Jantz, and Jan Herrick.
Laurence Webster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marium Webster of Marion, has been promoted by A.L. Duckwall Company to assistant manager of the Duckwall store in Boulder, Colorado.
The musical “Oklahoma” will be presented Nov. 22 and 23 by the Marion High School senior class. Lead parts will be played by Donna Hanschu, Chris Hauser, Max Jackson, Connie Warneke, Doug Bass, and Tom Tucker. Ruby Winkley will be the accompanist.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keller will leave this Sunday on a weeklong, all-expense paid vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The trip is first prize in a Carrier sales contest and will include a week of sightseeing, beach parties, deep-sea fishing, and other entertainment.
