Six teams, including Marion, remain in the semifinals of the district semi-pro tournament being held at Marion’s athletic field. Upon completion of tonight’s games there will be but four clubs left in the running for the money. Final playoffs are slated to begin Saturday evening.
A full afternoon horse race card will be the big attraction this year at the annual horse show August 5 put on by the Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association. Prize money will total over $1,000.
Mrs. Henry Reh has completed the sale of the Reh Oil Company, including the truck and buildings to Cardie Oil Company, Tampa, operated by G.G. Mueller and son Norman. The new owners have operated Cardie Oil Company for nearly 20 years so are well acquainted with the work and community.
Jack Summerville has purchased the city delivery route operated for some time by Robert Ecker. The grocery and market delivery will be continued on the present schedule of two deliveries daily, Summerville said.
A special holiday matinee will be held at the Kaw Theatre from 2 p.m. Monday, July 5. The show will be continuous from 2 p.m. Feature picture will be “Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap,” starring Abbott and Costello and Marjorie Main.
A total of $122,222 has been invested in savings bonds by Marion County citizens during the current security loan drive.
