Senator-elect Andy Schoeppel came to Marion County last Friday for a first-hand look into the proposed dam situation on the North Cottonwood. He came at the invitation of the North Cottonwood Valley Farmers group and made a complete tour of the area above the large dam proposed by the army engineers.
Judges for the Chamber of Commerce home decorations committee made the rounds Tuesday evening. The first prize of $25 went to Dick Jantz, 425 Locust. Second prize of $15 went to William Buethe, 222 N. Coble. Edward Good, 310 Locust, took third prize of $10.
A coyote drive is planned for New Year’s Day with headquarters at Dobbs schoolhouse, 3 miles west and 2 north of Marion. The hunt will begin at 12:30 p.m. No rifles or pistols are allowed.
Marion Boy Scouts filled a good-sized truck with over six and one-half tons of paper from the drive of last weekend. They had to stop gathering the paper before they were finished in order to help Santa Claus out with his distribution of treats.
Ella and Herb Meier, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meier Jr. are members of the Bethany College a cappella choir that will present a half-hour program of Christmas music through KSAL, Salina, on Christmas Eve.
