The Sunday “doodlebug,” Florence-bound on the Santa Fe, hit a flock of sheep belonging to John Skinner. Sixteen sheep got a right-of-way fence and onto the tracks and were killed. A couple of others were crippled.

Billy Hildebrand, 9-year-old son of the Rev. and Mrs. Clayton Hildebrand, suffered severe eye injury Thursday when he was hit in the eye by a shot from a BB gun.

Mrs. Arthur Schmersey entertained Saturday morning with a party in honor of the 2nd birthday of her son, Paul. Those invited were Milton Wayne Weidenbener, John Minear, Millie Matthews, Robert Melton, Carolyn Merrill, Kay Navrat, Dicky Rittel, Carol Jean and Coleen Ann Allen, John Price, Gregory Henry, Caroline and Rita Miser, Barry Warkentin of Wichita, Mrs. Paul Minear, Mrs. R.R. Melton, Mrs. Gail Merrill, Mrs. Ed Navrat, Mrs. Ed Rittel, Mrs. Walter Allen, and Mrs. George Miser.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Ehrlich entertained their nieces and nephews and a few other friends at dinner Tuesday evening before the girls left for their teaching work for the winter. Those present included Esther and Harold Ehrlich, Ralph and Irma Popp, Iola and Arlene Hegle, and Jack Straub.

A family picnic Wednesday evening at the lake honored Mrs. Will Parker and Bill, who will leave the 20th to join Mr. Parker in California. Those present were Mrs. Parker and Bill, Margaret Parker, Paul Rogers and Phil Pierce of Wichita, Lillian Pierce and daughters, and Mrs. Fred Oyer.
