Old Settlers visiting Marion for the annual picnic this year will miss one building on Main St. that has been a landmark at the west end and has given the town a good portion of its local color through those years. The old Rink Livery barn at Main and 1st Sts. is now being razed by its owner, Frank Knott.

Classes at the high school are fully organized with the following officers elected: Seniors — Mac Kreuter, president; Doug McGinness, vice president; Darlene Johnson, secretary; Jean Pierce, treasurer. Juniors — Mary Jo Utting, president; Bill Perry, vice president; Mildred Garrison, secretary-treasurer. Sophomores — Anna Lou Hoch, president; Johnny Brose, vice president; Rosse Case, secretary-treasurer. Freshmen — LaVerna Knight, president; Jack Beaston, vice president; Wanda Hannaford, secretary-treasurer.

The American Legion has arranged to have a ceremony in connection with the return of the park cannon to the Army for vital metal scrap. Judge Jay Hargett will speak at 2 p.m. Thursday in presenting the gun to an officer from Fort Riley.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bernhardt and Margie, Mrs. Ben Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Will Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Olsen, and Mrs. Albert Ollenberger went to Canton for a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe McIntosh.

Invitations are being issued this week for the wedding of Eldena Sampson to Cyrus Goertz, the ceremony to take place Sunday, Sept. 27.
