Midway Motors construction on hold

Staff writer

Midway Motors of Hillsboro is waiting for General Motors to emerge from bankruptcy so it can begin work on a new building.

GM must approve the look of the planned building, general manager Danny Flynn said. GM considers showroom and service space, and how the building fits in its area.

GM cannot approve until bankruptcy proceedings are complete, expected in 90 days, Flynn said.

Midway Motors passed a second round of dealership cuts June 2. GM sent packets to dealerships informing them they were cut or inviting them to join the “new” GM, Flynn said.

“That’s something we’re very proud of,” he said.

He credited efforts of the entire staff with showing GM the company was a valuable dealership.

“We’re building a business,” Flynn said.
