More fingerpointing than theft in candy caper

Hillsboro police are investigating a burglary Saturday evening at the high school ballpark concession stand.

Assistant chief Randy Brazil said officers had recovered 90% of the candy purloined by juvenile burglars.

Four suspects, ranging in age from 11 to 14, are blaming the burglary and theft on one another, Brazil said. Apparently, another was involved.

“One story is that this group did it, and we talked to those two people, who are telling us that those other two did it,’” Brazil said.

A caller who tipped police that two of her children might have been involved lives in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. Other suspects live in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St.

“They just did it out of boredom,” Brazil said.

He said police were continuing to investigate.
