Morris County prosecutor named magistrate

Morris County Attorney Laura Viar will replace Margaret White when she retires Jan. 1 as magistrate judge for Morris County in the 8th Judicial District, which includes Marion County.

Morris County Republican committeemen and committeewomen will meet to nominate her successor as county attorney.

After a year in office, Viar must stand for a retention vote.

If retained, she will serve a four-year term.

Viar was appointed by the governor on the recommendation of the district nominating Commission.

Daryl Enos and Edwin Wheeler Jr., represent Marion County on the commission.
