New commissioners sworn into office

Staff writer

Two new county commissioners were sworn in Monday.

Dave Crofoot was sworn in as 4th District commissioner and Jonah Gehring as 5th District commissioner.

Commissioners heard routine department reports and had a return visit from a woman who owns property at the county lake and wants a portion of a road vacated so she can build a house.

Junette Bealby, who talked to the commission last month about not being able to build a house or a shed for her 26-year-old horse and dog, again asked commissioners to vacate a road turnaround so she would have space for building.

“In my understanding, these are the same issues you brought up last time,” commissioner Kent Becker said. Becker told her the issues are for the planning and zoning department, not the commission.

“We’re not going to petition for anything where we’re going to pay $200 here and $200 there,” Bealby said.
