New cost share programs announced
Farmers concerned about soil and water quality can apply for two programs offered through Marion County Conservation District.
April 2 through April 30 is a new sign-up period for water resources and non point source cost share practices. The money would be available in July.
The water resources program promotes soil and water conservation through construction of terraces, diversions, grass waterways, livestock water systems, and grass seeding.
The non-point source program focuses on water quality protection through pollution control measures such as plugging abandoned wells, upgrading failing septic systems, and establishing livestock water systems and livestock waste management practices.
Interested landowners are asked to contact Marion County Conservation District at 303 Eisenhower Dr., Marion, or call (620) 382-3520.
