Dan and Cynthia Draken are the new managers of Hillcrest Motel, Hillsboro.
The couple moved to Hillsboro Sept. 18, and assumed the managerial responsibilities.
The property recently was purchased by ESC Properties LLC with the Drakens hired as managers.
There are 13 rooms available to serve customers, Cynthia Draken said, with wireless Internet available.
Some beds and televisions have been replaced in some of the rooms with more improvements being planned. Those include new carpet and curtains, ice machine, telephones in the rooms, and a picnic area on the grounds with a horseshoe pit, picnic table, and gas grill available.
The Drakens moved to Hillsboro from Texas.
For the past 10 years they have been motel managers with Hillcrest Motel being their fifth facility.
They have a 13-year-old daughter, Mona, who is a student at Hillsboro Middle School.
The motel was filled to capacity Sept. 19 and 20 during the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Fair.
“I look forward to the opportunity of continuing to serve guests and hope visitors give us a try,” Drakens said.
