New trail site planned

Cottonwood Crossing chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association is planning construction of an interpretive site near K-15 and 320th Rd., north of Durham.

It will have four panels, one describing the Santa Fe Trail, which is visible from the site, and another describing the Diamond Vista wind farm project, with turbines close by.

A third panel will detail cooperation between the chapter and Diamond Vista to protect the Santa Fe Trail during wind farm construction and operation. A fourth panel will give a history of William Scully and the Scully estate that continues to this day, with Scully land adjacent to the site.

Funding for the project was provided by Diamond Vista.
