No reason for shots fired on Christmas

Residents reported two gunshots early Friday morning near Aulne, but police found few clues as to who fired the shots or why.

That didn’t mean police weren’t concerned about the incident.

“It’s an unsafe act,” sheriff Rob Craft said.

It isn’t known exactly where the incident occurred or why the person was firing a gun.

“I don’t know if they were shooting a possum, a can, or a stump,” Craft said.

He specified that the incident took place near Aulne, though not necessarily in the community itself.

It first was reported at 1:39 a.m. by Pawnee Rd. residents who heard the shots.
