CORRESPONDENTS: Northwest of Durham
Gene and Jaraine Redger celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary which was Aug 23. The family honored them with an open house on Aug. 20 at Newton. Many relatives and friends were in attendance.
Dean and Rose Redger and their daughter Donna from Little Rock, Ark. were special guests and visited in the Gene Redger home later.
On Aug. 21 dinner guests at the home of Ken and Sandy Wiebe were Charla Nightingale, Chelsea Koehn, Tim Davis, and Clayton and Betty Wiebe. Several young boys from the Morning Star Church, namely, Jordan Wiebe, Titus Koehn, and Arlyn Wiebe went to Minot, ND to help with flood cleanup. They left Aug 23 and returned home Aug 28. They went to visit Heath and Tannis Dirks at St. Clair, Manitoba Aug. 27.
Aug. 24 guests for supper in the Merlin Wiebe home were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Harry and Lela Wedel, Kendall and Susie Wiebe and Abigail, Anthony and Beth Wiebe and Tylan, and Leonard and Dianna Peachy.
It was a farewell for Jana Wiebe, who left on Thursday for California to teach School this coming year. On Aug 28 Ron and Dora Unruh, Mark and Barb Unruh and Katlin, and Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna attended the afternoon wedding reception for Darren and Corina Enns at the Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. They were married on July 30 in Denver, Colo. Benji Wiebe celebrated his 14th birthday on Aug. 25 at his parents’ home Jason and Sheri. Guests for ice cream, cake, and snacks were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Ed and LeAnn Plett and Maria, Aaron Herbel, Levi Mondosa and Cody and Trevor Wiebe.
Enjoying a family supper in the Calvin Wiebe home Aug. 26 were Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and family, and Travis and Sharon Koehn and family. Leonard Eicher of Alabama was a houseguest Aug 24 and 25 of the Clayton Wiebes and visited friends while here.
On Aug. 25 he had supper with Chet and Melissa Boehs and Friday visited Bruce and Cheryl Dirks.
The families of the Cottonwood Grove School had a welcome with homemade ice cream for the teachers on Aug 23.
Warren and Anita Unruh and family attended the 50th anniversary celebration for their uncle and aunt, Loren and Helene Funk, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Hillsboro on Aug 27.
