The children of Howard and Iris Eck hosted an anniversary dinner in their honor on Nov. 12 in Greensburg. It was their 40th wedding anniversary.
Attending from Durham were Larry and Wanda Koehn, Darrel and Donita Rhodes, Wendell and Linda Wedel, and Warren and Jane Unruh.
Ron and Dora Unruh visited Jerald Unruh at Newton Medical Center.
At least 27 members of Durham Senior Citizens met on Nov. 16 for a Thanksgiving dinner at the community building. The board prepared turkey and potatoes and everyone brought side dishes. Betty Youk was the hostess. Evan Johnson of Walton displayed antique wrenches and talked about his collection.
Guests for a family dinner at the home of Clayton and Betty Wiebe on Nov. 20 were Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and family, Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family, and Travis and Sharon Koehn and family. They celebrated the birthdays of Dallas and Dayna Wiebe, children of Calvin and Janene.
Ron and Dora Unruh hosted a dinner for the Dan Duerksen family on Nov. 20 at the Durham Community Building. About 40 people enjoyed a potluck together.
Dinner guests of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe on Nov. 20 were Troy and Marla Wiebe and family, Caryln and Jackie Wiebe, Teresa Wiebe, Rayletta Ratzlaff, Charla Nightingale, and Chelsea Koehn.
Rick and LaVae Koehn spent Nov. 20 in Burns attending the afternoon memorial service for Rick’s grandmother, who was 95.
Dinner guests of Harry and Sheryl Rhodes on Nov. 20 were Marcel and Wendy Unruh and family, Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and family, and Mike and Mich Rhodes and family.
Harold Jantz, 88, a lifelong farmer in the Durham community before moving to Newton, died Nov. 15 at Parkside Homes. Memorial services were on Nov. 21 at Faith Mennonite Church in Newton, with burial at Peace Valley Cemetery in rural Durham. Some of the local people who attended either the service or burial were Richard and Kathy Dirks, Fiennes Jantz, Mark Unruh, Ron and Dora Unruh, and Warren and Anita Unruh.
