NORTHWEST OF DURHAM: Rain revives crops

The community was thankful for rain this weekend. Reports were from 1.5 to a little more than 2 inches. We seemed to miss all previous rains, with once in a while 0.20 of an inch, and crops were suffering a lot.

Seniors from Morning Star Church got together for a picnic Sunday evening at Hillsboro Park.

Merlin and Karletta Wiebe were hosts for a dinner Sunday, Guests included Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, Titus and Chelsea Koehn, Ken and Shelli Giesbrecht and Taylor, and Aaron and Janessa Herbel.

Clayton and Betty Wiebe left early Saturday to attend memorial services Sunday for Clayton’s cousin, Dorothy (Wiebe) Toews, in Lobelville, Tennessee. They returned home Monday.

Jasper and Joni Zeiset and Kelton dined Sunday in the home of Mark and Kris Wiebe.

Several from here attended the wedding Sunday at Lone Tree Church near Galva of Charlene (Dirks) Becker to Lonnie Unruh. Among them were Charlene’s nieces and nephews, Ruston and Lydia Dirks and family; Heath and Tannis Dirks, Jackson and Marlin; and Bethany Wiebe and family. Others going from here Harry and Sheryle Rhodes and Larry and Wanda Koehn.
