NORTHWEST OF DURHAM: Students graduate from Cottonwood Grove

Eight students graduated from Cottonwood Grove School at their closing program for the year Thursday evening. Graduates and their parents included Dallas and Dayna Wiebe (Calvin and Janene), Jylissa Wiebe ( Doyle and Kara), Darcy Rhodes (Darrin and Meri Kay), Jacob Wiebe (Nelson and Bev), and three girls from Hillsboro. The children, parents, and friends all enjoyed a picnic dinner Saturday with games and homemade ice cream.

Ron and Dora Unruh accompanied Jim and Brenda Enns to Hesston May 15. They attended services at the Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church with Darren and Corina Enns, who lead the Praise team and worship singing. They then had lunch in Newton and spent time in Hesston for a visit.

Sunday dinner guests in the home of Clayton and Betty Wiebe were Terry and Robyn Schultz and family, Robyn’s parents Tony and Debbie Unger of Manitoba, Tim and Shelia Koehn and family, Carol Schmidt, Rebecca Peachy, Jessica Martin, and Kathy Schmidt.

Ron and Dora Unruh attended the eighth grade promotion Tuesday evening at Goessel. Dora’s great niece, Brooke Nafziger, was one of the eighth graders. They attended a reception afterwards at Alexanderwhol Church.

Wendell and Linda Wedel went to Fredonia with Margaret and Ron Jantz on Sunday to watch their niece, Charrell Mayeskea, graduate from high school as valedictorian. Mayeskea will attend Emporia College to major in accounting.

Dale and Kathy Jantz and Charlene Wedel flew to California Wednesday to attend the memorial service for Kathy’s father, John Toews, on Friday.

Mark and Barb Unruh went to McPherson Thursday evening, where they met Randy and Janie Edgier in Inman for supper.

Larry and Wanda Koehn invited Joyce Friesen of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Brendon Reimer family of Hillsboro, Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family, Lena Koehn, Margie Jantz, and Amy Koehn for dinner Sunday.

Mark and Kris Wiebe spent a few days visiting their daughter at West Point, Mississippi. They also then went to Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, to visit their other daughter.

Wendell and Linda Wedel hosted a pizza dinner Sunday in honor of their grandson’s 12th birthday. Guests were Greg Wedel, Caden, Teona, and Cambria, and Troy and Marla Wiebe and family.
