Teachers get ice cream welcome

Teachers at Cottonwood Grove School started a new school year Aug 23. Teachers Tim Koehn, fifth, seventh, and eighth grades; Katlyn Unruh of Iowa, fourth grade; Amy Buller of Galva, third grade; and Katie Wiebe, temporary first and second grade, were welcomed Thursday with a homemade ice cream reception. Permanent first and second grade teacher Joleigha Redger of Virginia is expected to arrive after Labor Day.
Wendell and Linda Wedel, Greg and Charlene Wedel and family, Roy and Nadine Davis, Merlin and Karletta Wiebe, and Stuart and Lea Isaac attended Sunday funeral services in Fredonia for Naomi Mayeskea, 92, mother of Linda Wedel.
Marlin and Bethany Wiebe and family, Arlyn and Kalynda Wiebe, and Mitch and Carol Unruh and family were Sunday dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe.
Nathan Unruh and Colby Foreg of Kansas State University were recent visitors in the Ron Unruh home.
Seniors Citizens met Aug. 23 at the community building for watermelon, sandwiches, and side dishes brought by members. County commissioner Kent Becker spoke to the 16 attendees.
Mark and Kris Wiebe, Luke, and Kayla, Jasper and Joni Zeiset, Kelton and Lillian, and Ruston and Lydia Dirks and family had Sunday dinner at the Ransom Wiebe home.
Mitch and Carol Unruh and family had dinner Friday evening with Ron and Dora Unruh.
