It was definitely a white Christmas but snow and strong winds caused some driving problems. Most families were able to have their get-togethers as planned. The families that came home for the holidays had come a day or so early to get home ahead of the storm.
The Harry Wedel families got together on Dec. 23 at the Sugar Creek School near Galva. Hosts were the Warren and Jane Unruh family.
The Nelson Wiebe family, Travis Koehn family, and Calvin Wiebe family were Christmas day dinner guests of Clayton and Betty Wiebe.
Bruce and Cheryl Dirks had Ruston and Lydia Dirks and Chaniel, Marlin, and Bethany Wiebe, and Heath Dirks as their supper guests Dec. 24. They spent Christmas day with Cheryl’s mother, Vera Smith, and other relatives at Hutchinson.
Larry and Wanda Koehn went to Kidron, Ohio the weekend of the Dec. 13 for the wedding reception of Denise and Christopher Schrock.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe hosted their family for Christmas dinner. Merlin and Karletta Wiebe, Jana, and Janesa; Mark and Kris Wiebe and family; Jason and Sherry Wiebe and family; Justin and Rebecca Wiebe and family of Bloomfield, Iowa; Anthony and Beth Wiebe and Tylan; Kendall and Susie Wiebe; Bryon and Rebecca Thomas and Kristina; and Chester and Melissa Boehs. The Boehs moved here from Georgia, and are working for the Jason Wiebe dairy. They live in Durham.
Justin and Rebecca Wiebe arrived Dec. 23 and returned home Dec. 28. They were houseguests of their parents, Ransom and Lillian until Dec. 26 and then they went to Hillsboro to spend time with her parents, Abe and Louise Ensz. On the morning to Dec. 26, the Ransom Wiebes and the Justin Wiebes were guests for brunch in the Merlin Wiebe home.
Tim and Shelia Koehn and family went to Greenland, Manitoba for the holidays to spend time with her family. Guests for Christmas dinner at the Larry Koehn home were Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and family, Quinton and Dianne Unruh and family, and Carol Unruh.
Amy Koehn came home on Dec. 24 from Brooksville, Miss., to spend time with the Larry Koehns. On the evening of Dec. 28, the Larry Koehn family, Amy Koehn went to Moundridge Manor and took goodies to share with Crystal Koehn. Other guests were Richard and Jolene Koehn and Kamilla of Carson City, Mich.; and Lena Koehn, and Margie Jantz of Newton.
Ron and Dora Unruh had their family home on Dec. 27 for their Christmas dinner. Guests were Jim and Brenda Enns and Daren; Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matt; Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah; Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna; David and Ashley Enns and family; and Lisa Enns of Seattle, Wash.
Marcella Unruh’s family was home for dinner Dec. 27.
Clayton and Betty Wiebe took Tim Davis back to Newton Dec. 27 in the afternoon. Then they went to visit Helen Wiebe at the Manor. Mark and Barb Unruh went to McPherson Dec. 26 to meet Elaine Stutzman and Chelsie of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Chad and Hillary Stutzman and son for supper.
On Dec. 31, Ransom and Lillian Wiebe attended the Memorial services for Lillian’s cousin, Howard Becker, 64, at the Gospel Church, Moundridge.
The Duerksen family Christmas was hosted with a potluck supper by the Milt Duerksen family Dec. 28 at the Goessel City Building. Those that went from here were Ron and Dora Unruh, Warren and Anita Unruh and family, and Mark and Barb Unruh and Sara.
Newton and Maria Jantz of California came Dec. 21 to spend about two weeks with family.
