The Cottonwood Grove School board met for supper Dec. 17 near Galva. Members and guests present were Larry and Wanda Koehn, Calvin and Janene Wiebe, Jarold and Rhonda Koehn, Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes, Sarah Peachy, Katie Stutzman, Beth Koehn, Charla Nightingale, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Merlin and Karletta Wiebe.
Overnight guests of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe Dec. 18 through 20 were Russell and Crystal Koehn of Orval, Calif., and Craig and Deanna Becker of Dalhart, Texas. Kristi Koehn who teaches in western Kansas was an overnight guest of Anthony and Beth Wiebe. Kristi and Deanna are daughters of the Russell Koehns and granddaughters of the Wiebes. They were supper guests Dec. 19 of the Wiebes. On Dec. 18, Ransom and Lillian attended the viewing and supper for Dessie Koehn, 92, in Moundridge. They attended services Dec. 19 at the Lone Tree Church.
Rhonda Davis came home Dec. 19 from Bloomfield, Iowa, to spend two weeks with her family, the Roy Davises.
Mike and Mich Rhodes and family of Bradley, Ark., arrived Dec. 21 at the home of their parents, Harry and Sheryl Rhodes. They are home for 10 days to visit family and friends over the holidays.
Ron and Dora Unruh attended the children’s program Dec. 20 at the Trinity Mennonite Church. The next day they attended the musical program presented by the Hillsboro middle school and high school.
The Calvin Wiebe family, the Nelson Wiebe family, and the Travis Koehn family had supper together Dec. 15 at the Clayton Wiebe home to celebrate Calvin’s birthday. On Dec. 18 his birthday was celebrated with a family supper at the home of Harry and Sheryl Rhodes. Guests were the Wiebe family, the Darrin Rhodes family, and the Ken Giesbrecht family.
Merlin and Karletta Wiebe hosted a family dinner Dec. 20 for Russell and Crystal Koehn, Craig and Deanna Becher, Kristi Koehn, the Jason Wiebe family, the Mark Wiebe family, the Ransom and Lillian Wiebe family, Anthony and Beth Wiebe and Tylan, Kendall and Susie Wiebe, Bryon and Rebecca Thomas and Kristina, and Beth Koehn.
Many parishioners of Morning Star Church attended the wedding reception for Brian and Sandra (Bartel) Hiebert Dec. 13 at the Alexanderfeld Church near Hillsboro. The couple was married in Canada on Nov. 29. They will make their home in Hillsboro.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe and Clayton and Betty Wiebe went to the Moundridge Manor Dec. 10 for the monthly birthday party. Helen Wiebe was one of the guests honored for her birthday. The Durham Ladies were in charge of bringing cakes for refreshments and the program.
Jana Wiebe came home Dec. 17 to spend the holidays with her parents Merlin and Karletta and family. She has been teaching in Livingston, Calif.
There was a large group of community patrons that attended the Dec. 12 Christmas in Durham with rides on a tram, refreshments, and visiting.
Cheryl Dirks and Bethany Wiebe were visitors Dec. 12 of Cheryl’s mother, Verna Smith, near Hutchinson. They built gingerbread houses. Verna had baked enough gingerbread to make 11 houses. Family members came during the day and decorated them.
Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family were dinner guests Dec. 13 of Harry and Sheryl Rhodes. Warren and Anita Unruh and family and Ron and Dora Unruh attended the Dec. 14 preschool Christmas program in Hillsboro. Jenna had a part in the program.
