Criminal threat
Charges of criminal threat are pending against Derrick Laplante, 30, of Hillsboro after a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of N. Jefferson St. resulted in his arrest at 3:55 a.m. July 28.
Laplante was allegedly arguing with his father, Larry Laplante, 68, of Hillsboro, when the threats occurred.

Criminal littering
Charges of criminal littering are pending against Mike Beneke, age not listed, of Lincolnville, after he dumped a load of debris onto the west lawn at Marion County Courthouse at noon June 29. Beneke was upset with the road and bridge department over the condition of the road.
A police report by officer Duane McCarty estimated removal of debris to have cost the county $105 in equipment use and employee labor.
Battery, disorderly conduct
Jason Anderson, 41, and Melissa Fisher, 38, both of Marion, were arrested on charges of domestic battery and disorderly conduct at 7:09 p.m. June 21 in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St.
They allegedly were screaming and brawling with each other in front of a child. Fisher was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. Anderson was not.
Each offender filed a complaint against the other. Both claimed to be victims. Each stated that the other struck him or her in a rude, angry, and insulting manner.
Possession of opiate
A passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for traveling 81 in a 65 mph zone was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamines at 2:10 a.m. June 21 west of Cedar St. on US-56.
Officer Mike Stone reported that the offender was in possession of about one gram of residue of methamphetamines.
Stone’s report did not give the name of the person arrested. However, Marion County Jail reported that Tanya Slack, 31, of McPherson, was arrested by Marion police July 21 on charges of possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.
