These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Theft

Two license plates were reported stolen between 5 p.m. July 22 and 4:59 p.m. July 25 from the 900 block of W. 5th St. in Florence. Victims of the theft, reported by Johnny Bass of Burns, were Mike Kaiser, Abilene, and Don Wasylk, Junction City.

Burglary

Two chain saws, a 4,500-watt generator, a fence charger, a 12-volt battery, and a drill saw light, together valued at $1,480, were reported stolen between 8:54 a.m. July 26 and 9:56 a.m. July 29 from a temporary structure on 20th Rd. between Yarrow and Zebulon Rds. No sign of forced entry was reported. Owner Larry D. Morgan, Hesston, reported the theft.

Hillsboro

Theft

Items ranging from a pneumatic grinder worth $300 and an air ratchet worth $200 to $30 in bills were reported stolen between 9 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. Friday from Hillsboro Body Shop. The 14 items stolen had a combined value of $1,075. There were no signs of forced entry, according to offense reports.

Theft

A vehicle reported stolen between 12:30 and 7:15 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Floral Dr. was recovered in a retaining pond in McPherson County. Ronald R. Herbel, 78, Hillsboro, reported that while he was asleep someone entered his garage and stole his 2012 Ford Fusion worth $12,000. There were no signs of forced entry, according to offense reports.

Criminal damage to property

Two mailboxes, worth $100 total, were reported damaged between 4:45 p.m. Friday and 5:21 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. Tracy Halydier, 56, of Hillsboro reported the damage.

Domestic battery

A 32-year-old Hillsboro woman reported being abused and choked at 10:27 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. Steven A. Katz, 35, Hillsboro, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

Marion

Counterfeit currency

Attempted use of a counterfeit $100 bill was caught between June 24 and June 25 at Carlsons’ Grocery. An official report was not released until this week.

Domestic battery

A 46-year-old Marion woman reported being abused at 11:33 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Walnut St. Steven A. Patrick, 45, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

Peabody

Theft

Two bicycles, worth $500 total, were reported stolen June 5 in the 200 block of N. Sycamore St., according to offense reports received this week. Heather Miles of Peabody reported the theft. An official report was not released until this week.

Protection order violation

A Peabody woman reported a protection order violation July 20 in 400 block of N. Walnut St.

Child in need of care

A teenager at a home in the 700 block of N. Peabody St. was taken into protective custody July 28. Since the boy was a resident of Newton, according to offense reports, Marion County Attorney’s Office sent the case to Harvey County law enforcement.
