REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Possession of meth and paraphernalia

An undisclosed quantity of drugs reportedly were seized after a traffic stop at 3:37 a.m. Saturday at 3rd and Pine Sts. in Peabody, according to undersheriff Larry Starkey and monitored police transmissions.

Deputy Aaron Slater’s drug-sniffing dog, Blue, reportedly indicated the presence of illicit drugs after Slater stopped a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina for undisclosed reasons.

After a search by Slater and deputies Presley Mabe and Matt Regier, Dustin D. Rodgers, 47, Newton, and Dawn M. Setzer, 40, North Newton, were arrested, both on suspicion of possessing meth and drug paraphernalia.

Rodgers remained in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. Setzer posted a $5,000 bond 38 hours later and was released.

Burglary

A burglar alarm alerted sheriff’s deputies when glass inserts in doors were broken and nine packs of cigarettes and 28 packages of over-the-counter medications were stolen shortly after 5 a.m. Feb. 12 at Dollar General, 701 E. 9th St., Peabody. Damages and losses were estimated at $1,430.

Battery

Christina M. Everling of Peabody, whose age was redacted from an open record of the crime, reported that a friend who might have been under the influence of drugs struck her, causing apparent minor injuries, at 10:10 p.m. Feb. 15 outside her residence in the 800 block of N. Poplar St. in Peabody.

HILLSBORO

Felony criminal damage

A rock was thrown between 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:05 a.m. Sunday through the rear window of a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Dallas S. Mitchell, 31, Hillsboro, and parked in front of his residence in the 300 block of N. Birch St.

Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Felony criminal damage

Three blocks away and during the same general time frame, a rear side window of 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Zachary H. Mettlen, 38, Hays, was broken by an unknown object.

The SUV had been parked from 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:20 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of N. Washington St.

Damage again was estimated at $1,000.

Police have not speculated whether the two incidents of vandalism might be related.

MARION

Theft, trespassing

A shopper who had been told several months earlier not to return to Carlsons’ Grocery, 1121 E. Main St., was captured on video at 3 p.m. Saturday putting two steaks, valued at $21, under his shirt.

Alerted by a store employee, interim police chief Duane McCarty recovered the steaks, still in their packaging, shortly after the shopper left the store at, according to monitored transmissions, a rental home in the 100 block of N. Coble St.

Charges are pending with the county attorney.
